Today, Lotus Cars is based in Hethel, Norfolk, UK, and is the global HQ for sports car and hypercar manufacturing operations, the Lotus Advanced Performance Centre and the iconic 2.2-mile test track. It is home to the University of East Anglia, the Norfolk and Norwich University Hospital, and four research institutes including The Sainsbury Laboratory, the John Innes Centre, the Earlham Institute and the Quadram Institute. These institutions work alongside a community of over 40 high-growth businesses, managed by Anglia Innovation Partnership the company charged with responsibility for placemaking, a campus-wide enterprise strategy and ambitious plans to attract investment and grow the park from 100,000 sq ft to over 1m sqft creating a successful research-based ecosystem able to deliver societal benefit including through commercialisation activity and new industry links. Research at the campus focuses on tackling global challenges such as food security, human disease and climate change with research topics including plant science, genomics, food and health research, medical research, climate research and computational biology. AIP LLP aims to raise awareness of the opportunities at the research campus including the specialist facilities, services and tech platforms available for researchers and companies to access.   • Prof. Mario Caccamo

    Prof. Mario Caccamo < GO BACK TO ADVISORY BOARD Professor Mario Caccamo was appointed as the Head of Crop Bioinformatics at NIAB in 2015, Managing Director of NIAB EMR in 2017 and NIAB CEO in October 2021. A computer scientist by training, Mario has over 20 years’ experience in life science research and big data, including specific projects to apply the latest DNA sequencing technologies and bioinformatics methods to advance scientific understanding of crop genetics and the interaction of agricultural crops with their environment. Mario has led the work on the assembly of the first whole-genome release of the wheat reference sequence and was also one of the founding co-chairs of the expert working group within the Wheat Initiative focused on the deployment of an international Wheat Information System. He continues with his leading role in the cereal bioinformatics communities at both national and international levels.

  • Matt Windle

    Matt Windle < GO BACK TO ADVISORY BOARD Matt Windle was appointed Managing Director of Lotus Cars in January 2021, adding the title of Group Vice-President in August 2022. Prior to that he was Executive Director, Engineering, from February 2020, a role which included leadership of Lotus Engineering, the consultancy division of the business. Matt has also been Executive Director, Sports Car Engineering, from July 2018. With more than 30 years of experience in the automotive industry, Matt has held senior management roles with both high and low-volume companies. He has worked internationally with businesses such as Volvo, Tesla, Zenos, Caterham and Daewoo. Matt first worked for Lotus in 1998 as a CAD designer before moving on to further his career, returning in 2017. His role as MD of Lotus Cars is to continue to deliver Vision80, the corporate strategy which is transforming the Lotus business and brand before its 80th birthday in 2028. Between now and then, Matt continues to lead Lotus as it becomes a global force in performance cars with a revolutionised product range. His goal is for Lotus to be a financially strong company which is fully committed to the needs of its customers, staff and stakeholders.
