Establishing a Global Innovation Centre for Energy Transition in Peterborough

Paul Bristow MP spoke in Parliament about the merits of a new Global Innovation Centre for Energy Transition in his Peterborough constituency.

Project partners Peterborough City Council, TWI and Anglia Ruskin University are looking to establish a high growth energy cluster to develop the new technologies needed for the safe transmission, distribution and use of hydrogen into industrial and domestic applications.

This proposal will platform technology-focused foreign direct investment in the UK to drive growth in the green economy and address some of the most challenging obstacles in the international community’s transition to new energies, helping to:

  •  Accelerate the UK’s transition towards a greener, low-carbon economy. Thereby achieving net-zero ambitions and energy security.

  • Develop an innovation ecosystem in Peterborough to drive productive growth in new industries and technologies.

  • Increase higher-skilled employment opportunities focused on global net zero transformation.

  • Increase the skill levels of local people by aligning ARU curricula with industry needs.
