Dr Nikos Savvas is both the Chief Executive of Suffolk Academies Trust (an innovative post-16 Multi-Academy Trust) and of West Suffolk College (a large, general Further Education College), both of which form the Eastern Colleges Group.


When Nikos became CEO of West Suffolk College in 2013, he re-shaped its culture and strategy to create a financially outstanding, high-quality institution with its students and community at the heart of all decisions. Nikos also developed One Sixth Form College in Ipswich, which was recently celebrated as Outstanding by Ofsted. In 2020, he created another first-class college, known as Abbeygate Sixth Form.


Nikos is a board member of the Association of Colleges, the Pearson FE Referencing Group and Ipswich Priority Area Board. Amongst others, he is part of New Anglia LEP’s All Energy Industry Council and Skills Advisory Panel, as well as a Member of SENDAT. He was instrumental in the creation of the University of Suffolk.


He has a PhD in High Energy Particle Physics from Manchester University.


Nikos passionately sees education as the factor that he can influence to transform people’s lives for the better.
